NYC Residences Provide Interesting Terrace Offerings

A new wave of luxury Downtown residential buildings is taking shape in Lower Manhattan, and some of the standouts have unique architectural features. Instead of the traditional modernist “slab,” designers are using clever setbacks and cantilevered floors to create dynamic outdoor spaces and take advantage of spectacular views. At 90 Morton, a collection of new luxury West Village condos, architect Asaf Gottesman eschewed what he calls the traditional  “wedding-cake” style in which additions are stacked on top of existing structures with little variation. Instead, his team designed a system of terraces that provide natural light, privacy, and greenery for residents, all in keeping with New York City building code.
